Your privacy is fundamental to VoiceScribe. This policy explains what information the app processes, where that processing happens, who we share data with, and the rights and controls you have.
This Privacy Policy describes how VoiceScribe ("VoiceScribe", "we", "us" or "our") handles information in connection with the VoiceScribe mobile application for iOS (the "App"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
VoiceScribe is designed to be private by default: your audio is transcribed on your device, and optional cloud AI features run only when you choose them.

We do not require you to create an account to use the core features of VoiceScribe.
Audio recordings are not uploaded for transcription. Speech-to-text is performed on your device using WhisperKit. Your recordings stay on your device unless you choose to export or share them yourself.

When you choose to use a cloud AI feature, the transcript text you selected is transmitted to the DeepSeek API to generate a result such as a summary, note, translation, quiz or chat response. We do not send your raw audio recordings to DeepSeek. The transmission occurs only in response to your action. DeepSeek processes the request to return the output to you. Your use of these features is also subject to DeepSeek's applicable terms and privacy practices.
WhisperKit is an on-device speech recognition framework. VoiceScribe uses WhisperKit to convert your audio to text directly on your iPhone. Because this runs locally, transcription can work offline and your audio is not transmitted to us or to a third party for transcription.
If you connect a calendar, VoiceScribe accesses your upcoming events (such as titles, times and participants) to display them in the App and let you link notes to meetings. Calendar data is accessed only after you explicitly connect an account, and never in the background without your connection. You can disconnect a calendar at any time, which stops further access.
If you connect Google Calendar, the App uses the Google Calendar API via Google OAuth to read your calendar events. We request only the access needed to show your events and link notes. VoiceScribe's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. You can revoke access at any time in the App or in your Google Account permissions.
If you connect Microsoft Outlook, the App uses the Microsoft Graph API via Microsoft OAuth to read your Outlook calendar events. We request only the access needed to show your events and link notes. You can disconnect at any time in the App or revoke access in your Microsoft account settings.
The free version of VoiceScribe may display advertisements using Google AdMob. To deliver and measure ads, AdMob may collect and process information including advertising identifiers, device information and ad-interaction data. This processing is governed by Google's advertising policies. Whether personalized advertising and cross-app tracking occur depends on your App Tracking Transparency choice (see below). A paid subscription removes ads.
In accordance with Apple's requirements, the App may present the App Tracking Transparency prompt requesting permission to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. You choose whether to allow tracking. If you select "Ask App Not to Track", the App and its advertising partners will not use the device advertising identifier to track you for that purpose. You can change this choice anytime in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

We may use limited, privacy-respecting diagnostic and crash-reporting tools to understand stability and improve the App. Where used, this information is aggregated and not used to identify you personally. We do not sell your personal information.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict processing of your personal information, to object to processing, and to data portability. Because most of your content lives on your device, you can exercise many of these rights directly in the App. For requests we can assist with, contact contact@voicescribe.info. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
You control your data:
VoiceScribe may be used worldwide. Where you use cloud AI or connected services, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, which may have different data-protection laws. By using those optional features, you consent to such processing. We take steps to protect your information consistent with this policy and applicable law, including the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA where they apply.
VoiceScribe is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including on-device processing that keeps audio local, encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) for network requests, and minimization of the data sent to third parties. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through in-app notice. Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance.
