Transparency & Data Sharing

This page answers a simple question directly: where can you check the personal information being sent, and to which third parties? Here it is — in plain language, with no fine print.

Last updated: 2026 · Applies to VoiceScribe for iOS

Audio recordings are never uploaded for transcription. All speech-to-text runs on your device using WhisperKit. Only transcript text you explicitly choose to process is ever sent to a third party.

You can review the content before any AI feature runs

VoiceScribe is built so that nothing leaves your device without a deliberate action from you. Before generating AI summaries, AI notes, AI chat responses, translations, study tools or quizzes, you can see the transcript text that will be processed.

  • You record or import audio. It is transcribed on-device with WhisperKit.
  • The resulting transcript is shown to you inside the app.
  • If — and only if — you tap an AI action (Summary, Notes, Chat, Rewrite, Translation, Study, Quiz), the selected transcript text is sent to the DeepSeek API to produce the result.
  • If you never tap an AI action, no transcript text is sent anywhere.

What data is shared, with whom, why, and for how long

The table below is the heart of this page. It lists every category of data that may leave your device, the third party that receives it, the purpose, and the retention.

Tracking happens only if you grant App Tracking Transparency permission. You can decline.

Calendar connections are explicit and reversible

  • Google Calendar information is only accessed after you explicitly connect a Google account.
  • Microsoft Outlook calendar information is only accessed after you explicitly connect a Microsoft account.
  • You can disconnect Google Calendar and Microsoft Outlook integrations at any time from within VoiceScribe settings. Disconnecting stops all further access.
  • No background sharing occurs.

Advertising & App Tracking Transparency

VoiceScribe's free experience may display advertisements through Google AdMob. To do so, AdMob may collect advertising identifiers and ad-interaction data. In line with Apple's rules, the app may present the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt asking whether you allow tracking across apps and websites owned by other companies. You can choose Ask App Not to Track, and the app will respect that choice. Learn more in our Cookie Policy and Privacy Policy.

What is never shared

Your raw audio recordings are never uploaded for transcription. There is no background upload of recordings, transcripts, notes, contacts or photos. Transcript text is shared only when you personally trigger an AI feature.

Your controls

  • Skip cloud AI entirely — use recording, on-device transcription, export and the voice keyboard without ever triggering an AI action.
  • Disconnect calendars — revoke Google or Microsoft access at any time from settings.
  • Manage tracking — change your ATT choice in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
  • Delete your data — remove recordings, transcripts and notes on-device; uninstalling the app removes local data.
  • Ask us anything — email contact@voicescribe.info.
